Curious George! This Is Me.......

I am such a Curious George! I want to know about everything! I often write lots of post its of all the things I must look up on the internet. You know, sayings, words to songs, and all of the whys for so many of these unanswered questions. I often wonder about the here after and what those of us who have already passed on are now doing to keep busy in the spirit world/ heaven.

I love this photo taken by photographer Beth Dow and featured in the March "Real Simple" magazine. When I read this.......I said......"This is so me".

Here is her cute little article in her words:

What makes my life real simple "When I came across this tree at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, my first inclination was to find out why the plastic bags were on the branches. But then I realized that the tree interests me because I don't know how or why it came to be this way. Sometimes not knowing is better than having the answer.

In fact, learning to live with a mystery has made my life simpler and more relaxed. This photo reminds me that it's OK to let go and accept life's little secrets".

I would say that this is some good solid advice.........and who doesn't love a mystery!
And really.............maybe we aren't suppose to know all the answers!

Sunday After Church Fun

This past weekend I traveled north to spend some time with my daughter Ivy and her family ....and of course I took along a cute, fun and YUMMY project to do after church on Sunday. So.....we made the cute Easter nesting baskets and you can check out the recipe on an earlier post.

What was so fun was that the "babies" were even able to do a little frosting and tasting! LOL

The babies got the hang of the "how to frost and eat" pretty darn quick.......

A Special Gift For My Friend Zel

Sometimes things are just meant to be! This sweet "antique ladies hand glove box" found it's way to me via my girlfriends in Missouri. It's just amazing to me how some things just come together even over hundreds of miles and with the help of the internet. This sweet box is a gift between friends in hopes it will bring a little happiness ...during a time of sorrow. ♥♥♥

North Beach Area of San Francisco

On Saturday morning early, we headed down to the Wharf via our hotel... The Grand Hyatt at Union Square. After a long and wonderful day at the Wharf and some wonderful clam chowder from Bodines we then WALKED back to our hotel via the beautiful North Beach area of San Francisco.

Known as San Francisco's Little Italy, North Beach boasts cafes and restaurants for every taste and budget. Baseball legend Joe Dimaggio and his bride, film icon Marilyn Monroe posed for wedding photos on the steps of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Washington Square Park. City Lights Bookstore was a favorite haunt of famous beat poets.

Can you even imagine hauling your groceries up these steps? I would be opting for eating out or doing some serious dieting! Ha Ha

Crazy beautiful tall buildings with so much character!

It must have been some sort of a school prom on this day as about 15 of these classic 1960's cars went cruising by us with cute kids all dressed up!

Ahhh...........the magnificent Saints Peter and Paul Church.

How fun........We have a bride and a groom!

A view from the Choir loft.

Chocolate Chip Easter Baskets

Prep: 45 minutes
Cooking: 14 minutes
Level: Easy
Yields: 24 baskets

These adorable Chocolate Chip Easter Baskets are a special springtime treat to be remembered.

Ingredients
1 package (16.5 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar Dough
1 cup prepared white frosting
Green food coloring
1/4 cup sweetened flaked coconut
WONKA® SweeTARTS® or SPREE® Jelly Beans
Thin-string licorice, various colors, cut into 3-inch pieces for basket handles (optional)

Directions :
PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease and flour 24 mini-muffin cups. Place one square of cookie dough into each cup. BAKE for 14 to 17 minutes or until golden brown. Remove pans to wire rack. If licorice handles are to be added, with tip of wooden pick, make two holes opposite each other on top edge of cup. Make sure holes are the same size as the width of the licorice. This is best done when cups are very warm. Cool cups completely in pans on wire rack. With tip of butter knife, remove cookie cups from muffin pans. Arrange on serving platter.

COMBINE frosting and a few drops of food coloring in small bowl, adding additional food coloring until desired shade is reached. DISSOLVE a few drops of food coloring in 1/4 teaspoon water in small, resealable food storage plastic bag. Add coconut. Seal bag and shake to evenly coat coconut. SPOON a small amount of frosting onto the top of each cup. Add a pinch of tinted coconut. Top grass with SweeTarts Jelly Beans. Insert ends of licorice into small holes in cups for handles.

San Francisco Stores

One of our most favorite things to do and see when we are in San Francisco is to browse the store front windows. Needless to say they have some amazing displays! I dream of seeing this at the holiday.

JCHS Comes To Zion

We love these cute kids! They come every year to stay with us here in Zion!

They come from one of my favorite cities.... San Francisco!
They are wonderful and so respectful for young adults.

After arriving in Las Vegas, the group hit the road to Springdale, Utah, known as the Gateway to Zion National Park. The group had a chance to meet and interview the Mayor of Springdale, Pat Cluff. She spoke to the group about what Springdale means to her - both as a leader but also as a citizen, and about the value of building a community.

Monday was filled with hiking throughout the gorgeous Zion National park and groups had the option of hiking to Scout's Lookout, the Rim, or Angels Landing.
