Monster Mash

Who doesn't remember this song? Oh my heck! It is one of my favorite Halloween songs ever. This wasn't always the way I felt about it though. I can remember being about 7yrs. old and my brother Steven would be playing the 45 on our "Hi-Fi " and me being scared to death. I would even have terrible nightmares about it..............Looking back it seems so silly but when you are so young... some things seem so real!
"Monster Mash" is a 1962 novelty song and the best-known song by Bobby "Boris" Pickett. The song was released as a single on Gary S. Paxton's Garpax Records label in August 1962 along with a full-length LP called The Original Monster Mash, which contained several other monster-themed tunes. The "Monster Mash" single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on October 20 of that year, just in time for Halloween. It has been a perennial holiday favorite ever since.
I have added it to my Halloween Playlist and if you want.... you can scroll down to listen to it!
I Love My Utah Jazz!
Ah.........The excitement..........The wait!I know it's only the first pre-season game but when your a BIG FAN, it's huge.
Portland traveled to Salt Lake for the game last night and the final score was Jazz 100 and Trailblazers 96.
I have been so nervous with all of the changes.........players who have left, new players that have signed and what would be the starting line up.
As most of you know, who know me.......I am not a fan of change! But let's see so far what has taken place. Carlos Boozer is already out for the season with the Bulls because he tripped over a suitcase at his home. Wow..most of us thought he would at least play the first game with them! Ok..........that was not very nice......But he sure does have alot of injuries.
All in all..............I am a true blue JAZZ FAN and I will back them 100%. Bring it on!

Gratitude.....................

This morning while running my usual errands from work I ran into a friend of mine while entering a local business. We always hug and say how are you doing. He has had a lot of health issues in the past so I like to keep tabs on him. What a shocker!...................He now has a new problem as on a recent visit for a check up they have now found a cancerous tumor in his bladder. He will begin 6 weeks of chemotherapy next week.
As I got into my car..............I wept and I wept openly!
We are the same age!
I am just wondering why some of us are so affected by poor health. Of the affected persons I know, some have had some bad habits while others have lived a clean lifestyle free of alcohol, tobacco or other forms of substance abuse.
How grateful I am for my wonderful health. Sometimes we often forget that our "sweet" present life could change at any given moment.
My Gratitude List.................and it's just a beginning!
I am grateful for my health and I believe it to be one of my greatest blessings.
I am grateful for my family.
I am grateful for my relationship with my Father in Heaven and his Son, Jesus Christ.
I am grateful for my friends.
I am grateful that I am never hungry or without a roof over my head.
I am grateful to have a job that I LOVE...
I am grateful that I love the people that I work with.
I am grateful that I have tools to help me through life.
I am grateful that I have options, that I am free to make choices.
I am grateful to have the option to choose to be happy every day while I am upon this earth.
I am grateful to be able to serve others.
I am grateful that I am a positive and optimistic person.
I am grateful for repentance and the joy it brings to my life and those that surround me.

Capitol Hill Historic District

Old Stone House

The Old Stone House is the oldest standing building in Washington, D.C., United States. The house is also Washington's last Pre-Revolutionary Colonial building on its original foundation. Built in 1765, Old Stone House is located at 3051 M Street, Northwest in the Georgetown neighborhood. Unlike many Colonial homes in the area, sentimental local folklore preserved the Old Stone House from being demolished.
The Old Stone House stands among the neighborhood's stores and restaurants as an example of local history for tourists, shoppers, and Georgetown University students. The building, valued at over $7 million, is part of the Rock Creek Parkway urban natural area and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The Old Stone House is also a contributing property to the Georgetown Historic District, a National Historic Landmark. Today, the home is 85% original to its 18th century construction.
After the renovation, the Old Stone House was opened to the public in 1960. It became a part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, but stewardship of the house was later transferred to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. In the late 1980s stewardship of the Old Stone House was once again transferred, this time to the Rock Creek Parkway.[5] The current value of the land and building is $7,010,980.[6]
Tudor Place in Georgetown
What an amazing home and acreage this is in Georgetown. This home was built for Thomas Peter and his wife Martha Parke Custis (granddaughter to Martha Washington). This home actually stayed in this family until the last residents just up and left one day to move elsewhere and actually left all their belongings to the estate. Everything.......clothes in the closets, dishes, books, etc. We loved visiting Tudor Place. But my very favorite thing on this property is in the next picture. You know how I love old cars!
