My Current Read......

I appear to be on a Abraham Lincoln reading frenzy! Visiting Washington D.C. has just stirred that part of my brain that loves American History. This book starts with the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln and then the manhunt begins for John Wilkes Booth and his band of conspirators.
Let me just say this...........GRIPPING...
I almost feel as if I am there in the background watching it all take place! I love a book that takes me away, that takes me to an earlier place in time.
Highly Recommended by me!

Mountain Meadows
We had gotten as far as Cedar City so I figured we would go back to St. George via Beryl Junction, Enterprise and then Veyo. Mom has always wanted to visit the Mountain Meadows Massacre site. She has read the book written by Juanita Leavitt Brooks and this has been on her bucket list for quite sometime now. Well mama.........cross it off!!
For someone who is not a member of the church she seems to know more church history then the members do. I am glad the day wasn't a total loss. When we got to St. George I drove her up to the Juanita Leavitt Brooks house. I guess we share a special connection with Juanita..........After my youngest daughter's wedding we didn't know what to do with all the beautiful flowers so mom and I both looked at each other and said "Juanita's grave"..... We took them and found her grave at the St. George Cemetery. Her books are amazing and her own life story is so encouraging. She was a beautiful pioneer!!
Who Doesn't Love Pie?
On our way back from Mountain Meadows we stopped in Veyo to actually have a bite of lunch. But.....the place I remembered as being so delish was closed on Sunday's. But wait....what is this I see across the street? A Pie Shop! We ended up having pie for lunch and as it should be!! Mom had Banana Cream and for me a piece of Cherry Raspberry please!
Creepy Crawling and Flying Bug Week
When you live in the desert what else would one expect! We have had really hot temperatures this past week and that usually means all the weird bugs come out......or should I say "want to come in". This creepy little guy was on the outside door frame this morning. It appears to have wings but how very odd looking! I was dying to touch it or tap it lightly with a stick. But I didn't. He was gone by the time I got back home.
When it gets really hot here in the canyon the flying ants come out. It kind of reminds me of the "mormon flies" back home. All these thousands of flying ants come out at night and when you go outside they are just everywhere! Hundreds of them.......on the pavement, on the window screens........everywhere. And you have to be quick at opening and closing the door because they are in.....just that fast. Hence my midnight swatting frenzy, only to be woken up later to a mouse on the sticky trap jumping around the room. Oh restfull sleep where are you?

With Deep Sadness!

It is with a heavy heart and a great deal of tears that I must say so long to my friend Kathryn ....but only until we meet again.
Such a sweet, strong and quiet spirit.... A young woman who had already lived a life time in her short time here on this earth.
My Library buddie.............My Twilight friend!
I am so blessed to have known you and to have shared a few laughs with you. How blessed we are to have the knowledge of the gospel..........to know that we will meet again.
Safe journey.........my sweet friend. Zion Canyon will miss you but you will never be forgotten.

Blessings....
This past weekend I traveled north for the Blessing of the twins. It was a wonderful time.
We enjoyed the fireworks on Saturday night and the kids loved it even though it was actually cold and very windy. We had a nice luncheon at the park and had alot of family that attended. It's always so nice to visit with everyone and catch up!
